Jack is back, this time in the streets of London as the the popular series 24 returns for a half season amount of 12 episodes.
Despite the Super Bowl turning into a giant dud (last time I root for the Broncos), there were several previews of television shows that Fox was showing off. Throughout the game, we got small previews that were 5 seconds each, all ending with a familiar countdown tone. Finally, in the 3rd quarter of the game, it all finally came together when Jack Bauer and Chloe O’Brian were revealed on screen. Just like that, we got 24: Live Another Day.
As you can see from the teaser trailer above, Jack and Chloe are in London. Apparently, the dynamic duo have run into each other in London as Jack helps carry the Spider-Man 3 version of Chloe away from an explosion of some kind. Of course, he locks eyes off screen and shows off that steely resolve, firing bullets at his intended target. He also lets out a therapeutic scream, one that seems to have been buried in his body for years (speculation) as he takes out his anger on some unlucky subject. At this point, the title card flashes and we stand up and applaud.
Admittedly, I love 24. As ridiculous as it got as the seasons went on, it will always have a place in my heart, it was a game-changer for dramas on television. It was an ambitious idea that should not have worked but the drama, the suspense, the twists and turns and the action brought us back. Kiefer Sutherland became a household name once again and it introduced us to the likes of Mary Lynn Rajskub. Dennis Haysbert and cougar trap bait Elisha Cuthbert. I’m super excited for the new season, and for William Devane and Kim Raver returning. Joining the world of Bauer will be new faces like Tate Donovan, Benjamin Bratt and Yvonne Strahovski.
Details are light on the story, but we know that Jack is still on the run years after the events in NYC (Season 8) and he meets up with Chloe in London, who seems to be in trouble herself. Obviously, terrorism goes down and it’s on Jack to save the day yet again.
24: Live Another Day arrives on May 5th, 2014 with a 2 hour premiere, so buckle up, it looks like the Jack Bauer Power Hour is back for the summer.
