Winter is coming and fans of HBO's medieval mega hit Game of Thrones can barely contain themselves at the prospect of what the show's fourth season will bring. Tucked away in HBO's end of 2013 promo is an ever so brief sneak peek at what may yet come to pass.
Now before you go running for your broadsword let me be the first to tell you the snippet is very short and does not give anything away in terms of spoilers. However, this is all the Game of Thrones you’re going to get for a few months so you might as well enjoy it. The video also boasts some fine scenes from Boardwalk Empire, The Newsroom, Girls, True Blood, and even a little taste of the upcoming Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson cop show True Crime. However, we all know what the icing is on this cake; the hint of Tyrion in chains, the dash of Geoffery on the throne. Doesn’t it give you goosebumps? We here at GEEK took the liberty of giving you just “the good stuff” from the promo!
Considering the massive popularity of the show I would not be surprised if rabid fans are right now carefully deconstructing the less than five seconds of footage and coming up with their own rumors about what the next season will bring. What we do know for certain is that the season will be based roughly on the second half of George R. R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords and the first third of A Song of Ice.
Game of Thrones is based on the novels of George R. R. Martin. Martin has written a few of the episodes and serves as story consultant and producer which is probably why the show has been able to stay true to the novels in overall tone.
Season 4 of Game of Thrones premiers in the first half of 2014.
