Since we're sure everyone is currently enjoying the new issue of Geek Magazine, we don't have to call attention to the showcase of innovative photojournalist Stephen Hayford's wonderfully crafted dioramas.
What would a Labor Day celebration be without a new piece from Hayford, chronicling the downtime of the Empire, and other key moments of the Star Wars Universe. He shared his new image with us in celebration of Labor Day on Hoth.
A great look at the soldiers on Hoth enjoying their day off with a refreshing match of Stromtrooper Curling. When GEEK spoke with Hayford for the latest issue, he spoke of the early beginnings of his Star Wars fascination that evolved into his artwork:
“It’s just like any hobby that all of a sudden becomes your career,” he says. “It’s a lot of work, but i still love that I’m able to make a living playing with toys. It gives me a kind of stress-free joy that I couldn’t have in journalism.”
“I’d put together a scene with a bunch of the main figures and Santa Yoda, as if they were all celebrating Christmas in the Wampa Cave. I posted that and it was an instant hit. And then fans wanted to see one for New Year’s. Then it just snowballed.”
