The promotional cycle for Fox’s upcoming science fiction cop show Almost Human is in full swing, with a new trailer and a new release date.
Originally slated for November 4, Fox has pushed the release date for the Karl Urban / Michael Ealy show back to Sunday, November 17 and Monday, November 18, slipping it in after Sunday Night Football and just before FOX’s other major fantasy hit, Sleepy Hollow, which airs at 9pm.
The move comes with a new trailer for the show, which showcases some of the show’s humor and banter in the new footage, along with the unfortunate phrase Ro-Bromance. The preview has us really interested at the potential for this show.
Thus far this season, Sleepy Hollow has turned out to be a sort of fantasy version of the now-ended Fringe. Together, both shows should help to fill the gap in SF shows this season. Being the “filling of the gap” left by Fringe is made a bit easier given who is involved with both new projects. J.H. Wyman who created Almost Human was showrunner on Fringe for many years while Alexander Kurtzman and Bob Orci, J.J. Abrams’ co-creators on Fringe are part of the team behind Sleepy Hollow. However, robot and human detective shows have a rather poor track record on television and in film. Hopefully, this new addition to the canon will turn that trend around.
Almost Human will premiere on November 17th at 8pm on FOX.
