Labor Day marks the return of the fall TV lineup, and already vying for fall TV glory is American Horror Story: Freakshow.
Say what you will about Ryan Murphy, but there’s no denying how impactful American Horror Story has become. The upcoming fourth season promises to be one of the most bizarre, and twisted seasons ever as told by their newest viral campaign. Shortly after the AHS: Coven finale, speculation began on the theme of the approaching season, and it wasn’t long before fans guessed the cirque based theme of Freakshow.
The beauty of American Horror Story, is that each season is an anthology, comprising of different stories, characters and themes per season. That said, with fall TV on the horizon, fans have been treated to a series of expectantly shuddersome teaser videos and images from Freakshow - and they don’t fail to disappoint. Our favorite being the three-legged contortionist, but that’s only the tip of the circus top, as the teasers gets increasingly freakier. But this is American Horror Story, freaky is their craft. Black latex suit anyone?
Teasers aside, the cast for Freakshow is shaping up to be a boastsome, uncanny lot. Oscar winner Kathy Bates returns as the bearded lady, and a two-headed Sarah Paulson will be seen in the form of conjoined twins Bette and Dot. Angela Bassett looks stunning as ever, even with a third boob, and Michael Chiklis appears as ‘The Strong Man.” Of course we’ll see AHS vet, Jessica Lange return, but not much is known about her character other than her German origins, which may or may not have a tie-in with the trending hashtag for Freakshow, WirSindAlleFreaks. The english translation being, “We are all freaks.”
Grammy winner Patti Labelle (playing the mother of Gabourey Sidibe’s character) was recently announced to appear on the show as well as Emmy nominee Matt Bomer, who’ll make a one episode guest appearance. And if that star-studded lineup isn’t enough for you, this season will feature Guinness world record holder, Jyoti Amge as the world’s smallest woman.
We’re certainly ready to take in TV’s newest carnival spectacle, but we’ll have to wait till October 8th before we can truly divulge into AHS. If you’re anything like us, waiting has never been an easy feat. Fear not! We’ve always got ya covered.
Cue the adorably addictive funko pop figures.
