Marvel Productions and Disney Studios announced earlier today that writer/director Joss Whedon has finalized a deal with 80's mainstay Andrew Clay (also known as "Dice" or "The Diceman") to voice Thanos in The Avengers 2.
Whedon’s casting of Clay has raised the eyebrows of many in Hollywood but Disney is backing the risky decision all the way. Whedon claims “I have always loved him as a stand up comic and I feel he never really got his due and I want to help change that. I feel he is perfect for adding a recognizable yet authoritative voice to our main villain here”. Whedon went on to state, and to allay the fears of fans, that Clay will NOT be doing his “Dice” voice for the character and will bring a gravitas to the proceedings that will very much surprise people. There is no word yet on the returning casts’ reaction to this casting coup nor how this will effect James Gunn’s “Guardians Of The Galaxy” film which is rumored to lead directly into the events of The Avengers 2.
