Good news, friends; we’re about to get yet another variation of Angry Birds. No, it’s not Angry Birds KISS, which Gene Simmons expressed interest in doing last February. This time, our fine feathered friends will be entering the world of Star Wars. Rovio Entertainment, creators of Angry Birds and Lucasfilm have partnered to create Angry Birds Star Wars, which will release to iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC and Windows Phone on November 8.
The folks behind the game describe it as a mash-up of the original Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space with elements of Star Wars thrown into the mix, story included. Will the addition of Star Wars lore to the Angry Birds cannon be embraced or shunned by long-time fans? We will have to wait and see.
“This is the best Angry Birds game we’ve ever done. It’s the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away,” said Peter Vesterbacka, the “Mighty Eagle and CMO of Rovio,” in the press release announcing the game. “As a big Star Wars fan myself, I’m really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one.”
Of course, as with any Angry Birds game, there will be new merchandise themed around the title. This fall, expect to see Angry Birds Star Wars costumes, t-shirts, action figures and plush toys at your local retailer.
