Slade Wilson is in Starling City but that's not the only big news to hit Arrow this season.
Members of DC’s Suicide Squad have made appearances here and there throughout both seasons of Arrow, and with the arrival of Amanda Waller it was all but assured we’d see an assembled squad. Now that time has come. The promo for the episode airing on March 19, aptly titled “Suicide Squad” shows Waller gathering together her troops, and bringing into the fold some who were probably not as willing to be there. John Diggle, we are looking at you.
First, a nice little call back to one of the first images we geeked out over in the Arrow series premiere, the burnt and shot through Deathstroke mask.
Does this mean we are finally going to see how Oliver went about putting an arrow through Slade Wilson’s eye on the island? Or the freighter? We are nearing the end of the second season, seems about as good a time as any. Especially since this distrust and budding hatred between the two men has been bubbling under the surface for a few episodes now.
It was cool to see that Amanda Waller has been gathering up her little band of miscreants from the cells of A.R.G.U.S.. I don’t know about anyone else, but if “OJ and Manson weren’t available?” is any indication, I can not wait to see Diggle’s reaction to this whole situation.
Also coming back for this baddie filled episode is the poster child for daddy issues, Huntress. Teased just slightly in the promo, it’s not hard to believe that Sara Lance and Huntress don’t get along. This is when Oliver should really start to reevaluate his m.o. of entering into a romantic relationship with any semi-attractive woman who crosses into the Starling City city limits.
While the assembling of Suicide Squad is pretty exciting, DC fans know there is a Squad member who has yet to be seen on the show. A woman who is perhaps one of the most well known members of Suicide Squad, if not one of the most well known female villains in all of the DC Universe. That is, of course, Harley Quinn.
In the show’s one and a half seasons so far, there have been a few characters that many see as strictly Batman characters. There have been persistent rumors that Nightwing would make an appearance in Starling City. But throughout all that, it was understood that Batman and the people most associated with Batman would not be involved with Arrow at all. Two shots, one from the above promo and another from the following teaser make us believe that might be changing.
In the teaser, there is the quick view of the back of a blonde woman in a cell. Two telltale ponytails that theoretically could belong to anyone, but look like they belong to one woman in particular.
If it was just that, it’d be reason enough for the internet to start questioning. But then in the “Suicide Squad” full promo we get another, perhaps more telling clue. For the briefest of moments, a shot of a woman’s hand, with black nail polish.
Could Harley Quinn really be coming to Arrow? There has been zero confirmation and no actress has been announced or listed as Harley Quinn so far, but right now, it’s hard to believe she isn’t going to make an appearance. Granted this by no means suggests that we’ll ever see Joker but Ms. Quinn is still a pretty big name for the show that has done wonders so far for the lesser known DC characters.
What do you think? Harley Quinn for sure going to show up? Are you looking forward to the CW’s version of the Suicide Squad? Are we finally going to see the ultimate showdown between Slade and Oliver?
