DC Entertainment's latest release will take us into the world built in the Arkham video game series...
Look out bat-fans! Sure we’re more than two years out from Batman vs. Superman (if that turns out to be the title), but for those who can’t get enough of playing the various Batman-led Arkham video game series, DC Entertainment has a direct to video treat that you’re really going to like. The latest DC Animated Feature will be Batman: Assault on Arkham, and we have the first trailer!
Based in the world of the Arkham video games, the dark knight must stop his nemesis the Joker from setting off a nuclear dirty bomb in Gotham. But when the Suicide Squad turns up the question of who is a friend or foe takes on all new life-threatening dimensions. The trailer hints at a high octane Bat-story that will keep you on the edge of your seat with its crisp rendering of Batman, the Suicide Squad, and too many baddies to mention.
Director Jay Oliva cut his teeth as a storyboard artist on projects from 300: Rise of an Empire, Man of Steel, and the animated Batman: Year One which cements him within the realm. Throw in the voices of Kevin Conroy as Batman, Neal McDonough as Deadshot, Hynden Walch as Harley Quinn, and CCH Pounder voicing Amanda Waller insure that the bar will be set exceptionally high.
The Arkham series of games started in 2009 and has spawned several related comic books, and is quickly en route to becoming one of Warner Brothers Interactive, Eidos Interactive, and Rocksteady Studios biggest franchises. Arkham Asylum holds the Guinness World Record for Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever based on an average Metacritic score of 91.67
