As if the Man of Steel sequel wasn't packed to the brim with heroes already, it looks like Victor Stone AKA Cyborg will also be making appearance.
Ray Fisher has been added to the cast of the untitled Batman/Superman film, joining Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot. Cyborg is a relatively new member of the Justice League in the New 52, and his inclusion in the film doesn’t bode well for fans hoping to see the Martian Manhunter in the Justice League.
Variety reported that after testing a few names over the past few weeks, Warner Bros. decided on theater actor Ray Fisher. While his role in the film is expected to only further set up the character in DC’s developing cinematic universe, it is still an exciting addition to the film. With Cyborg involved it actually gives us an idea of how the Justice League might develop, and what other DC characters or establishments we might see in the DCCU.
In the opening storyline of the New 52, Victor Stone is severely injured during an invasion by the Apokoliptian horde commanded by the villain Darkseid. He is then rebuilt by his father at STAR Labs, which is a well-known company in the DC universe. Stone becomes Cyborg and is instrumental in stopping the invasion. Obviously we will have to wait to see more about how he will fit into an already overcrowded film.
This isn’t the first Victor Stone we’ve seen, as the character appeared a number of times on the CW’s Smallville, played by Lee Thompson Young. He’s also featured in a number of animated features, TV series, and was a longtime member of the Teen Titans before joining the Justice League.
