The other night, the Syfy network came to the Geek part of town to shoot an episode from their upcoming series Collection Intervention, where average geeks are forced to face the enormity of their collecting habit and how it's affecting their lives. Last night's subject was a friend of mine by the name of Mike Wellman, who manages the Comic Bug comic shop in Manhattan Beach, CA. Mike is more than a little obsessed with Battlestar Galactica (both eras). Without giving away too much, he ended up getting a little visit from the star of both series, Richard Hatch, who played both Apollo and Tom Zarek in the classic and more recent incarnations of BSG, respectively. Then the show moved to the Comic Bug, where a large group of Mike's friends were waiting to witness his addiction first hand.

Not sure when this episode will air, but keep an eye out for yours truly in the crowd when it does. Mike’s impressive collection will be available to view at the the Comic Bug through Friday in Manhattan Beach.
