“Go ahead. Take a peek. It’s alright. We weren't quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can’t wait to finally show you what we've really been up to.”
With that, Bungie gave the general public its first preview of their next project – Destiny. The developer ran a blog post yesterday featuring the concept art shown above with promise of more information to come. Why did they do this before they were ready? You guessed it, an information leak. Yesterday, IGN ran a post featuring concept art and details on the game extracted from a document sent to them by a “source.” Bungie ran their post shortly after being asked for an official word on the document by IGN.
“Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age,” reads the document acquired by IGN. “A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.”
Before this, the only thing we knew about the game was its title and that it could potentially be an MMO. If the latter is true, this will likely be the first game of that type I invest any time in. The concept sounds pretty great. Agree? Disagree? You know where to tell me.
