Cancer Gets LOST has partnered with Blacksparrow Auctions for an online charity auction of television memorabilia – exhibiting items at the Paley Center for Media through the summer of 2014.
This non-profit organization, founded by LOST fans Jared Wong and Jo Garfein, works to raise funds for various cancer support charities through live events and auctions that feature rare and often autographed pop culture memorabilia.
Their 2012 event brought in almost $65,000 for the National Brain Tumor Society. Wong and Garfein are passionate about making a difference and thankful for the generosity of fellow fans and the celebrities who contribute.
“The key to our success is channeling fandom and followers toward the greater good,” said Garfein. “To be honest, I consider it to be the most rewarding hobby in the world.”
Their September 2014 event will feature original props, costumes, autographs and other incredible memorabilia from the television phenomenon that was LOST, plus autographed items from other popular shows such as Arrow, The Following, Once Upon A Time, Scandal, and The Walking Dead.
Working with the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, they are showcasing a revolving exhibit of screen-used LOST items through the summer. This exhibit features many of the items that will be in the charity auction, including the LOST collection of Ken McMeans.
LOST actors Eric Lange (Radzinsky) and Andrea Gabriel (Nadia) attended last week’s Paley Center reception.
The charity event will be available for advance bidding September 1-27. The live portion begins at 11:00am PDT on September 27, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
If you are interested in consigning to the auction, email@example.com is now accepting consignments.
In addition, Cancer Gets LOST will host a silent auction at LOST 2014, an official fan gathering on Oahu on September 20-22 celebrating the 10 year anniversary of LOST’s debut. A percentage of the proceeds from those ticket sales will also be donated.
