We now know a great deal more about the next round of films coming from Marvel Studios.
Yesterday, at their Hall H Comic-Con panel, the studio confirmed the movie many suspected after what occurred in The Avengers – Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel showed off a piece of Charlie Wan GoG concept art (click here for the full image) and gave the film a release date, August 1, 2014. The studio also confirmed that Edgar Wright’s long-awaited Ant-Man is actually going to happen and showed a bit of test footage to prove it.
Not enough news for you? Well, there’s more! Titles, release dates and logos for Thor and Captain America sequels were also revealed. Thor: The Dark World will be in theaters on November 8, 2013; Captain America: The Winter Soldier (you read that right, Brubaker fans) will be out on April 4, 2014.
Out of all these projects, I’m most interested in seeing how Guardians of the Galaxy turns out. While there have been a few peeks into the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe on film, each movie is grounded in a more realistic world. It will be quite difficult to mesh the fantastic elements of Guardians (e.g. the team is led by an anthropomorphic raccoon named Rocket) with the world the studio has created in their other movies. Despite the difficulty, though, I have no doubt Guardians will be an amazing film.
