During tonight's The Walking Dead season finale, a TV spot aired for the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
In a land where movie trailers are getting longer by the day, one movie arrived with a TV spot that showed just enough to get the moviegoer excited, while being careful to not give anything away. That movie? None other than Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
I am not what one would call a huge Planet of the Apes fan, but this spot along with the earlier Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer makes even myself really excited for this movie. The beginning shot of the opening gates is just cool. I understand they want their hashtag #DawnOfApes there, but it would have been much more striking if it had been a completely black screen and then the gates opened with the bad ass apes sitting there atop their likely equally bad ass horses, but still, it is pretty impressive looking.
Add in another shot of the incredibly pissed off Caesar and you have what looks to be a potentially very entertaining summer movie.
Starring Jason Clarke, Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, and Keri Russel and directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes arrives in theaters on July 11.
