We got our first peek at Skylanders: Swap Force way back in February at New York City's annual Toy Fair 2013 and we were surprised at what we discovered about this toy/game hybrid.
First, we thought it was just for kids. Not so. People around the world of all ages are into Skylanders, either for the funny and extensive game play options or for the collectible high quality figures (usually both). But what really surprised us is that no one has thought of doing this before now. Sure, there are plenty of toys based on video games and video games based on toys, but none that are released and work in conjunction with each other to enhance play the way Skylanders does.
So when we got a chance to take another look at Skylanders: Swap Force (the 3rd game in the series), we grabbed Scott Krager, an executive producer at Activision, and asked him what goes into creating the world of Skylanders and why combining toys and video games just makes a whole lot of sense.
