There has been a considerable amount of buzz for Ecuadorian filmmaker Sebastián Cordero's upcoming movie The Europa Report.

This found footage film has been talked about for its eye towards spaceflight accuracy, and this longer glimpse makes it look like it’ll be a really neat film to watch.

With a cast headlined by District 9‘s Sharlto Copley (his first SF film of the year – his second will be Elysium), the movie follows six astronauts who are dispatched to Jupiter’s moon, Europa, which is thought to be be a good contender for extraterrestrial life in our solar system. Told through news footage and onboard cameras, the crew lands on the moon and find more than they bargained for.

This one has us intrigued. There have been a couple of interesting found-footage space films, most notably 2011′s Apollo 18, but this one looks like it’ll be quite a bit better and a bit more tense. However, this particular astronaut group should have paid heed to the words of Arthur C. Clarke:

ALL THESE WORLDS
ARE YOURS EXCEPT
EUROPA
ATTEMPT NO
LANDING THERE

The Europa Report is set to be released on Video on Demand on June 27th, 2013, and will appear in theaters on August 2nd.
