The much-hyped marathon showing of every episode of The Simpsons begins on Thursday, August 21.
The Fox Entertainment Group’s relatively new channel FXX purchased the exclusive cable syndication, on-demand, and full digital rights for The Simpsons in 2013 for a reported $750 million. The channel is celebrating the addition of the longest-running comedy series in TV history by airing all 552 episodes in chronological order for twelve consecutive days. The Simpsons Movie will also air during the marathon.
FXX is clearly ecstatic about adding The Simpsons to the channel’s lineup. The marketing push to advertise the show’s marathon has been huge. Attendees at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con could not ignore the channel’s strong presence at what is arguably the country’s largest entertainment and pop-culture event. The hashtag #EverySimpsonsEver was difficult to miss at Comic-Con, especially since it was plastered on the side of the Marriott Marquis hotel.
The channel also hosted an attraction at Comic-Con called Homer’s Dome, which occupied a large area in Bayfront Park between the Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel and the San Diego Convention Center. Visitors who entered the giant Homer head were treated to a projection mapping experience and a demonstration of the “Simpsons World” immersive digital and online environment. Other attractions in the park were Marge’s Sweet Station, serving free blue cotton candy, and the Kwik-E-Race game, where fans could win prizes. And, the #EverySimpsonsEver hashtag was ever-present at this attraction.
The Simpsons marathon on FXX begins at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, and runs through the end of the day on Monday, September 1.
And, to add to complete Simpsons saturation, FXX will live Tweet the marathon.

The Simpsons marathon will inaugurate FXX as the exclusive cable home for The Simpsons. But new episodes will still initially air on FOX.
The show’s creators have twenty-five seasons under their belts, and they are pushing forward with more. Fall of 2014 kicks off the show’s twenty-sixth season, which will include the anticipated Simpsons/Futurama crossover episode. The Simpsons will also appear in the season premiere of Family Guy on September 28.
