If you were to find yourself in a certain small village in Germany during the month of August, you'd have the chance to see a play featuring the Guinness World Record holder for the largest walking robot in the world. Incidentally also the largest walking DRAGON robot in the world.
Furth im Wald, a town with a population of 9,000 in the Bavaria section of Germany is known as Drachenstadt, or “City Of Dragons”. Every summer they hold a “Slaying the Dragon” Festival and one of the biggest draws is the play put on each day in which the world record dragon is, we’d guess by the festival’s theme, slain.
Thankfully a bystander to one of the robot dragons exhibitions has uploaded a video to LiveLeak so we can all have a nerd moment watching this incredibly impressive machine do its thing.
The uploader, who is from Furth im Wald, stated that the display is even more impressive at night when the men who control the dragon can’t be seen. Night or day, light or dark, this is still amazing to see. The only thing that would have made it better is if there was an English translation available so we could know the context of the movements.
Who else is now making plans to be in Germany next August?
