Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United, Marvel’s first entry in a planned blitz of animated features, will debut on Blu-Ray and DVD on April 23.
Do you recall the final scene in the Avengers? Tony Stark and Bruce Banner seemed quite chummy as they rode off into the sunset. This friendship continues into Heroes United, where they team up to do battle with Zzzax, a being of pure electricity created by a group of HYDRA scientists experimenting with Stark’s Arc Reactor and Banner’s Gamma Radiation. Along the way to Zzzax, they’ll throw down with androids, the Abomination and some of Stark’s suits. Sounds like a party.
Unfortunately, Robert Downey, JR. and Mark Ruffalo were unable to reprise their roles in Heroes United. In their stead, we’ve got Adrian Pasdar (NBC’s Heroes) as Tony Stark/Iron Man and voice actor Fred Tatasciore (Banner/Hulk in Ultimate Spider-Man) as Banner/Hulk.
Marvel Animation Studios will release two animated, direct-to-video features per year between next year’s release of Iron Man 3 and Ant-Man, which will be out on November 5, 2015. Whether or not these will have direct links to the movie is unclear; however, it would be incredibly smart of Marvel to expand their universe in this way. How cool would it be to see characters embark on adventures too crazy to be filmed in live-action?
A trailer for Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United debuted at the New York Comic-Con. It has now been posted online and is viewable below.
