If your jaws are still agape from Sunday's Game of Thrones episode, welcome to the club kids. But  if your jaws are tightly clenched, we're hoping it's the building angst for next week's Game of Thrones absence on the HBO Sunday lineup and the upcoming episode, The Mountain & The Viper Collide.

Though viewers are in for a bit of a wait, HBO hatched up a promo trailer for episode 8 that explores in detail, the Reek/Theon saga, drama at The Wall, Sansa spilling the beans on Littlefinger, Cersei with a goblet at hand and of course the epic battle between Prince Oberyn and The Mountain. Obviously our intrigue lies with the latter.

It should go without saying that season 4 has been a climatic and fruitful buildup up from the prior seasons, excluding everyone’s least favorite wedding. The domino affect caused by Joffrey’s Death is slowly revealing it’s influence on the rest of Westeros, leaving dastardly and interesting plots out in the open. Sansa and creepy Uncle Littlefinger anyone? (That’s an entirely different post on its own.)  We’ve already seen several big moments in season 4, but one of the most paramount has to be the murder of Lysa Arryn at the hand of Petyr Baelish. Now where have we seen that “shove for love” before?

Meanwhile Cersei’s finally putting her wit to good use by declaring the Mountain as her champion in Tyrion’s trial by combat, apparently Jon still “knows nothing” and Daenarys may or may not have a sellsword with benefits situation going on?  Either way, I think we can all agree that Tyrion’s mishaps this season have been the emotional epicenter of the show, so just when you thought he hasn’t endured enough, Bronn’s blunt acceptance of Cersei’s bribery was the preverbal straw that broke the camel’s back, leaving Prince Oberyn to be Tyrion’s one and only ally.

Things are getting serious in Westeros, fast. Be sure to tune into HBO June 1, for The Mountain & The Viper Collide.
