Seeing as though my neighbors had Halloween stuff up during the third week of September, and last year they had their Christmas stuff up before Thanksgiving, it seems like an appropriate time to announce this amazing collaborative single from Drag City.
Indie country artist Bonnie “Prince” Billy and anachronistic Ren Fair folk artist Dawn McCarthy (who typically records as Faun Fables with Nils Frykdahl of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum) have recorded two covers of Everly Brothers Christmas songs. Drag City will release Christmas Eve Can Kill You b/w Walking the Dog on Nov. 20th.
The press release for the single also announced that Will Oldham (BPB’s real name) and McCarthy are working on an entire collaborative album reworking Everly Brothers songs.
