If you had a chance to read early translations of Pussy Riot’s closing arguments during their trial in Russia for felony hooliganism, you’ll know that each of the three women arrested, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich, are huge literary and philosophy geeks.

Pussy riot cover Geek Music News  Pussy Riot announces eBook Well, Feminist Press are publishing an eBook entitled PUSSY RIOT! A Punk Prayer for Freedom in about two weeks (no official date has yet been released.) The book will include new translations of all three of the arrested and convicted Pussy Riot members’ closing statements, the closing statements of their lawyers, poems, lyrics and statements from such noted feminist musicians as Yoko Ono, Joanna Fateman and JD Samson.

Tolokonnikova, Alyokhina and Samutsevich were arrested after they, along with two other members of political punk band Pussy Riot interrupted a church service at Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow by playing a song protesting Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Each was found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison, minus the five months they already served. They’re currently appealing the decision. Two other members of Pussy Riot recently successfully fled the country.
