Fox is getting the jump on the upcoming comic based TV series by being the first to reveal a trailer for Gotham!

Earlier today Fox announced that the upcoming series Gotham has been officially picked up for at least 13 episodes, with a further announcement that we would be seeing the trailer during the premiere of 24: Live Another Day. David Cannon serves as executive producer and director of the pilot, and the teaser shown gave us our first look at the series starring Ben McKenzie as James Gordon. Shortly following the teaser, we were thankfully given an extended trailer from Fox:

The trailer offers exciting looks at Gordon and Donal Logue’s Harvey Bullock, as well as a few of the villains before they were in their more well-known positions as members of Batman’s rogues gallery. Robin Taylor as Penguin, Cory Michael Smith as Riddler, and Claire Foley as Poison Ivy all make an appearance, though IMDb claims the character of Ivy’s real name is Ivy Pepper instead of Pamela Isley, which caused me to groan a little.

The teaser also introduced us to the younger members of the cast with David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne and Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle. They will be joined by Sean Pertwee as Alfred, as well as Jada-Pinkett Smith, Zabryna Guevara, and Erin Richards. The first trailer gave us a taste of the gritty city and the characters of Gotham, as well as establishing the mob connection and of course, the iconic murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

We loved the trailer and are surprisingly more excited than we were before, considering the initial announcement of the series wasn’t exactly met with acceptance. It looks like Fox has an interesting story to tell featuring some of our favorite characters, and we can’t wait to see more from Gotham. This trailer effectively sold the Gordon aspect of the series, which is sure to make for some great television.

What did you think of our first look at Gotham? Could trailers for The Flash and Constantine be right around the corner? Sound off on the GEEK Facebook or in the comments below!
