Gotham: New Trailer is Bloodcurdling Plus New “Hero” TV Spot

Summer may still be going full bore, but fall will be here before we know it and that means only one thing - new TV! Thankfully we have plenty of bits and pieces to keep us occupied until September, the latest being this new Gotham trailer.

We’ve already seen the first full length Gotham trailer from Fox, but in Canada the show will air on CTV (along with Arrow and The Flash) and they recently put out their own trailer which includes a bit more of the pilot, including that bloodcurdling scream from a young Bruce Wayne.

Not to knock our neighbors to the North (or is it neighbours?), but while this Gotham trailer does give us a bit more of the pilot, the Fox one did much more in giving the show a suspenseful feel. It starts off strong with the murder of Bruce Wayne’s parents, but then goes into a somewhat lazy “hey look who all is in the pilot!” kind of thing. My music nerd self really wants to put all the responsibility on the different music for each trailer, but editing also plays a large part.

Not saying this trailer is bad by any means, just not as good as it could be perhaps. It does show us a bit more of the original character, Fish Mooney, played by Jada Pinkett Smith. Internet denizens have been a bit vocal in their distaste for a new character when there is such a plethora of villains to choose from in the Batman mythos, but just from what we’ve seen so far, Fish Mooney seems like a character we can get behind. Sexy and probably a bit crazy, she appears to be a nice counterpart to the cool, collected, and crazy in his own right, Carmine Falcone.

CTV isn’t the only station releasing new Gotham of late. Fox has done plenty for themselves in the promotion department, including announcing that the pilot will be shown to the lucky Comic-Con audience. For the rest of us, we have to be happy with the bits and pieces released like this “Hero” TV spot put out last week.

Nothing that we haven’t seen before, but still its enough to make you remember to tune in to Fox on September 22.

Between now and then, stay tuned to Geek Exchange, especially as we enter the entertainment news whirlwind that is San Diego Comic-Con, for all your Gotham needs!
