The new complete Halloween series Blu-ray box set from Anchor Bay and Scream Factory will be released on September 23rd. We have a rundown of the box set including the new packaging artwork.
For the first time ever, there will be a complete Halloween series Blu-ray box set which will include John Carpenter‘s original (the Alpha-and-Omega of all Boogeyman flicks), as well as: Halloween II, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Halloween H20, Halloween: Resurrection, and Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II.
This new set is not mucking about. Scream Factory and Anchor Bay have wrangled up all the films and presented them in the most complete Halloween series box set ever released. Take a look at the new artwork for the package. It almost resembles an older VHS tape cover. Very in vogue with the films historical relevance (being a staple of VHS rentals for years and years).
The most prized possession of this new box set is the “Producer’s Cut” of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Meyers. The “Producer’s Cut” is an alternate version of the film, and features several scenes that aren’t in the theatrical release. There has been no legitimate release for that version of Curse and was one of the most sought after films for many horror fans.
Of course, the rest of the films in the Halloween series are presented in full and there will be two versions of the set:
- The 10-disc Edition includes the original theatrical versions of the Halloween films and will include select bonus features. SRP is $129.99.
- The 15-disc Deluxe Edition contains all the Halloween feature films, and includes the never before released producers cut of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers as well as the ultra-rare network TV version of the original Halloween, the network TV version of Halloween II, plus the unrated versions of Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II. It is packed with hours of BRAND NEW bonus features including new interviews with cast and crew from the entire franchise! In response to years of fan feedback, the first Halloween will now also include the original mono audio track and the set will include both versions of the original Halloween-the original Blu-ray release and the recently remastered 35th Anniversary version with the mono track added back in! It also comes with a limited edition 40-page book written by Michael Gingold of Fangoria Magazine. The collectible packaging will include a newly commissioned illustration on the outer case and each film will be in its own black Blu-ray case with the original theatrical one sheet as the key art. This deluxe set carries an SRP of $169.99.
This is already shaping up to be one of the biggest Blu-ray releases for 2014 and should satisfy any junkie of the Halloween series, horror fan, Blu-ray aficionados, or mask-wearing psychos.
