Heroes Assemble to Save the World in the LEGO Movie Trailer

You knew it was bound to happen eventually. After numerous animated cut scenes and shorts in the various licensed universes (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, DC, Marvel), LEGO had to build a movie of their very own.

The good thing is that the characters have voices. No mute or mumbling characters this time around. This time we follow the adventures of everyman Emmet (Chris Pratt) who is picked to be a kind of LEGO Chosen One when all of existence (but just LEGO Existence most likely) is put in jeopardy. And although the trailer teases something about heroes “assembling”, I don’t know if we can expect to see any Marvel characters to show up in the film, as the film is produced by Warner Bros (the home of DC Comics’ Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow, who each make appearances – probably the closest we’ll get to a Justice League movie for awhile). However, since Warner Bros Interactive is producing the Marvel Heroes LEGO video game, I could be completely wrong on that count. Who knows? All I know is that it looks absolutely fantastic and features the voices of Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, and Will Ferrell.

When can I buy my ticket? And does it come with a free blind-bagged minifig with purchase?

Watch for The LEGO Movie to hit theaters in 2014.
