Yesterday at SDCC, tv/film/comic/video game scribe J. Michael Straczynski announced the formation of a new production house – Studio JMS. Through this venture, he hopes to bring together his work in various forms of media and “cross pollinate” them, according to Deadline.
Projects lined up for the studio include the following: The Flickering Light (story of Max Glan Concentration Camp prisoners being “rented” as actors to be used in a Nazi propaganda film in WWII), The Adventures of Apocalypse Al (web series for MTV), Living Dead The Musical (self-financed web series), Vlad Dracula (TV series with Sam Rami) and Epidemic (TV series with Overbrook Entertainment). Given Straczynski’s tenacious work ethic, it’s no surprise that he has so much lined up so soon.
Comic fans will be excited to know that Straczynski will resurrect his long dormant Joe’s Comics as part of Studio JMS. The imprint, originally part of Top Cow, was used to put out a handful of the author’s creations in the early 2000s. Joe’s Comics 2.0 will be tied together with Image Comics and release four books in the spring of next year.
If you’re a Straczynski-head, I encourage you to visit the Deadline link as lots more information is spilled there.
