All announced character slots for Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot have now been filled. Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Nashville's Chloe Bennet (not to be confused with Heroes' Claire Bennet, who was portrayed by Heroes' Hayden Panettiere) has been cast as Skye, a "confident woman who is slightly obsessed with superhero culture and the shadow organizations that exist within it." Thankfully they didn't take the usual route with this character archetype and make her a hip-talking blogger. We all know enough of those exist already, right?
So, here’s the show’s main cast: Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson; Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May; Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward; Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons; Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fits. Samuel L. Jackson recently spoke to MTV’s Splash Page and mentioned he might drop in from time-to-time in some form, too. “But in my mind, I would tend to think that he would, if nothing else, be like Charlie in Charlie’s Angels,” he told them. “At least be the voice!”
Nothing is really known about the show’s actual plot other than it will somehow hook into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now that the cast has been nailed down, perhaps they’ll release some more details on that in the near future.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. series is set to debut at some point in 2013. What do you hope to see from it?
