Welcome to another edition of movie news round-up! Last time we looked at the upcoming Michael Bay production, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and this time up it's another sequel to the 90s classic Jurassic Park titled Jurassic World!
Starting off with the bad news – no, the original cast of Jurassic Park will not be returning for the fourth installment of the dinosaurs running rampant through industrial kitchens scaring the crap out of small children movie extravaganza. Actually, that isn’t entirely true. One cast member is rumored to be returning. BD Wong will be the lone original cast member returning to play his character, Dr. Henry Wu in Jurassic World. Those who read the Michael Crichton novel Jurassic Park were likely flummoxed as to why Dr. Wu had such a diminished role in the film version, but hopefully that will be remedied in this newest movie.
As for the rest of the cast? Well, that reads a bit like a who’s who of young Hollywood these days. Chris Pratt, seemingly the go-to guy in big name movies right now, with both The Lego Movie and of course the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt is gathering up big blockbusters left and right, in addition of course to his role as the lovable dolt Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation.
When asked about who he plays in Jurassic World, Pratt gave a somewhat vague but still rather descriptive rundown of his character.
“He’s got a little of both [characters]. He’s got a little bit of the Goldblum cynicism, but also the Sam Neill excitement at the wonder and the biology of it all.”
Joining Pratt is another cute boy of TV, Jake Johnson. While currently starring as Nick on Fox’s New Girl, Johnson also starred in Safety Not Guaranteed, an indie film directed by Jurassic World director, Colin Trevorrow. When asked if his involvement in Jurassic World was as a result of working with Trevorrow, Jake Johnson agreed completely.
Absolutely. Now, I’m also a huge fan of “Jurassic Park.” When I was growing up and “Jurassic Park” came out, I freaked out like every other kid. I was born in ’78, so I was, like, 12. If it wasn’t Colin and someone said they wanted me in “Jurassic Park,” I would jump on it. The fact that it’s Colin, written by Derek Connolly (who wrote “Safety Not Guaranteed”) and both those guys are personal friends, I’d go through a wall.
One of the earliest names confirmed for Jurassic World, through no press release or the like, was that of Bryce Dallas Howard. Instead of the usual route, Howard casually threw in a reference to the film while sitting in an interview with her father, Ron Howard, for his movie Rush. Then earlier this year Ron Howard tweeted a picture of Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt together.
Bryce and Chris meet for the 1st time on red carpet they will be co-stars in next Juraissic pic.twitter.com/Pu1nUI9SNG

Who needs an agent when your dad is Ron Howard?
While many of the casted roles have limited info released, it appears as if we might know something about one actor’s character. If you are going to have a huge Jurassic Park, you need someone to own it right? Enter Irrfan Khan. Another actor whose name might not ring a bell but the moment you see him you say “oh yea, that guy!”, Khan has worked steadily for years including roles in The Slumdog Millionare, Life of Pi, and The Amazing Spider-Man.
Rounding out the cast so far is Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3) and Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer, Melissa and Joey). Both Josh Brolin and Idris Elba were long rumored to be involved with the project but have since been confirmed as not.
In addition to all this casting news, JurassicWorld.org uploaded some amazing looking concept art. Whether or not this comes to fruition, it is still nice to look at!
Directed by Colin Trevorrow and produced by Stephen Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Pat Crowley, Jurassic World is currently slated for release on June 12, 2015.
