DC Entertainment's first animated film set in the New 52 releases an interesting first clip featuring the Emerald Knight and the Caped Crusader.
We’ve been waiting to see the debut of the New 52 in DC’s Animated Features since 2013′s Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, which was based on the Flashpoint event that resulted in the new reduced-timeline universe. While the New 52 has been moving along for a couple of years now, the Animated Features were still releasing stories from the old continuity, so it was only a matter of time until we saw this happen.
The first clip offers a little superhero action as Green Lantern battles a parademon from Apokolips in Gotham City, where he encounters the Batman for the first time.
What’s interesting about this clip is it involved the first interaction between any of the new 52 characters, and represented the new attitude at DC in regards to these iconic characters. The meeting of these two that begins the construction of the Justice League is an unlikely pairing to build off of, with so many other established relationships (Superman/Batman, Flash/Green Lantern) in the previous DC universe. This is part of what made it work so well as the introduction to the New 52 in the comics, and will probably do the same in the film.
Combined with the previously released images featuring Wonder Woman’s new suit and the first trailer, we are definitely starting to get excited for the release, despite feeling slightly apprehensive of the film at first. The cast features Alan Tudyk as Superman, Jason O’Mara as Batman, Michelle Monaghan as Wonder Woman, Justin Kirk as Green Lantern, and Christopher Gorham as Flash,
Justice League: War will be available on Feb. 4th.
