Sideshow Bob is back and he’s out to get those pesky cars that turn into robots.
At least, that’s what we assume based on the casting news that came out yesterday regarding actor Kelsey Grammer, who has reportedly been cast as the new villain in Michael Bay’s latest installment in the Transformers movie franchise. Despite Grammer’s legendary voice role as Bart Simpson’s arch-nemesis, Sideshow Bob, he’ll be using more than just his vocal cords when the new movie starring Mark Wahlberg hits the screens next year.
According to a post on Deadline Hollywood, Grammer will play a counter-intelligence agent named Harold Attinger. That’s right: we’ll actually see Grammer in the flesh. The biggest disappointment here is that we won’t get the opportunity to see Grammer match wits with Shia LeBouf, who has ended his streak of starring roles in Transformers movies with next year’s film.
Just kidding! No one’s disappointed by a lack of Shia LeBouf.
Anyway, Grammer’s carving out something of a geek-niche for himself with this new villainous role. In addition to playing the aforementioned Sideshow Bob, Grammer also got painted blue and covered in fur as Beast in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. What geek-themed movie should he appear in next? As of now, no one’s been cast to play J. Jonah Jameson in Amazing Spider-Man 2 (though there’s hardly a better man for the job than JK Simmons). But Grammer’s played the kinds of pompous blowhards that could really do the role justice…
