Knights of Badassdom Finally to be Released!

It seems like a lifetime ago that Knights of Badassdom was first announced, but now after years of behind the scenes issues, the film will finally see the light of day.

When Knights of Badassdom arrived at ComicCon in 2011 with a trailer, fans of the new movie were fairly certain they’d get a chance to see the completed project relatively soon. So imagine everyone’s surprise when the rumored release date of that following spring came around and there was no Knights of Badassdom. Then the film’s own website announced that it would be released in 2012.

2012 came and went, and there was no Basassdom to be found. News started trickling out that there was trouble behind the scenes in post production. Director Joe Lynch’s edit had been scrapped and the film was being re-edited. For awhile there, it looked as if the movie, featuring a cast to stop even the geekiest of hearts, would never see the light of day. Then, a savior came in the form of distributor Entertainment One. It was announced this past July that they had acquired the distribution rights to Knights of Badassdom and there was much celebrating throughout the land.

Now, the film’s site has released the following video and it promises (once again) that Knights of Badassdom is coming, and soon.

Of course, there is a bit of a catch. If you want to see this in a theater, you likely have your work cut out for you. First step: head on over to the Knights of Badassdom Tugg page. There you have the option of creating an event. That will allow you to contact your local theater and express interest in bringing the movie to your town. If they approve that request you move on. Step two: you gather up enough people that say they will attend the showing by a set deadline. Then, and only then, you will have the chance to see the film in a theater setting starting January 21.

However, if you are unable to achieve that, do not fear. For Knights of Badassdom will be available for digital download and on demand on February 11. It is not yet known if the Entertainment One release of the film will indeed be the original edit from Joe Lynch, or if it will be the re-cut version, but either way, it is nice to know that the film will finally be seen by those who have been patiently waiting all these years.
