In case you haven't already heard, Las Vegas is getting its very own Comic Expo, September 29-30th! And up until recently, it was going to be held at the Alexis Park All-Suites Resort, just off the strip and across from the Hard Rock Hotel, where Morrisoncon was being held the same weekend. But after devastating flash floods hit Las Vegas, the low-lying Alexis Park hotel suffered considerable damage to its convention center carpets, walls, and power systems. Rather than canceling the first ever Las Vegas Comic Expo after all the hard work they've put into it, the organizers decided to push on and find a new venue, knowing that a lot of comics fans from Las Vegas and the surrounding areas were desperately looking forward to having a comic convention they could call their own, right in their back yard.
They tell us that fans can stay at the Alexis Park as the hotel will be providing a shuttle every 2 hours throughout the weekend (see the official site for exact times). But if out-of-towners want to switch to the Riviera, they can cancel their Alexis Park room up to 48 hours before their check-in date and make reservations at the Riviera (discount rates forthcoming). If you want to keep up to date on all the latest changes, be sure to sign up on their official mailing list as they will be updating it frequently to keep everyone in the loop as these last minute changes are nailed down. You can find the email sign up form on the right side of any page on their site.
And to be clear even though they’re moving to a bigger facility, the prices for attendees remain the same: $25 per day and $40 for the weekend (kids 7 and under are free), which is a deal compared to most comic conventions. However, they do have a VIP package that gets attendees a lot of amazing swag and front of the line access that others don’t get with the regular tickets – all for only $150!
They have an impressive lineup of comic creators, including Mike Mignola, Adam Hughes, JG Jones, Herb Trimpe, and J Scott Campbell. They’ve also snagged a few popular media personalities, including Star Wars conceptual designer Iain McCaig, Thomas Jane, and more to be announced. There will be a cosplay contest, gaming competitions, and a wide variety of exhibitors with geeky goodies to sell.
And they’ve got some great exclusives from Big Dog Ink, Zenescope, and Lady Death. Our personal favorite bit of exclusive swag is a complete card deck of exclusive Las Vegas Comic Expo playing cards (see examples above) with original art from the creators attending the show. These will be made available only at the show and are very limited!
Putting together a comic convention under the best of conditions is nothing short of an ordeal. Considering everything that’s had to happen to make this event possible, you know these guys are doing it for the fans and the love of comics. So give them your love (and patience) as they push through the final stretch leading up to September 29th and 30th. We know their goal is to give everyone the best convention experience possible and to continue growing so that Las Vegas can say they have a show of their very own they can be proud of for years to come.

The Las Vegas Comic Expo will be relocating to a new venue, the Riviera Hotel & Casino, directly located on the Las Vegas Strip.
Due to the flash floods from a recent rain storm, the original hotel and halls located at the Alexis Park Resort were irreparably damaged to host LVCE. Drywall, carpet, and a lack of power proved too much to overcome in such a short window, thus making the shift to the “Riv” necessary. All tickets and prize vouchers issued will be honored at the new venue.
The Riv is an upgrade for attendees, vendors, featured guests, and LVCE. With an AWESOMELY larger floor space, exhibitor booths and the Artist Alley will be in one large room. The new venue will be able to showcase the impressive guest list, while benefiting everyone. Panels and programs will also be improved with these areas conveniently located down the hall from the main room. Since the Riv hosts a food court, restaurants, casino (**save your money for the vendors, artists, exclusives, and charity auction!**), and is a few blocks to the monorail system, this should make attending LVCE more enjoyable.
As for the artists’ tables and vendor booths…we did everything possible to maintain the same configuration and keep the same number assignments.
But, it just looked silly on the blue prints.
The convention hall is HUGE. No longer will attendees be traveling between two different rooms to see all the vendors and artists. So we hope that you guys can forgive us and be patient as we reconfigure the layout and make new table and booth assignments.
**We SINCERELY APOLOGIZE for the artists and vendors who’ve been making announcements about where to find them. We’ll get you new assignments ASAP and do everything we can to assist and change any ads that need to be updated for our Program Book. We hope the upgrade in convention space and more fluid attendee traffic will make up for this inconvenience.**
LVCE still takes place on September 29th and 30th…now, just at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, located at 2901 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (on the Strip, baby!) across from Circus Circus which hosts the indoor theme park, Adventuredome, and the Chuck Jones Experience which will allow more entertainment for the little ones.
It’s just a quick cab or shuttle ride from McCarran International Airport (LAS) and only minutes away from downtown Las Vegas, the Arts District, and the Fremont Street Experience .
