Oh yea, you read that right. Lego Batman 3 is going to be the greatest video game of all time.
There are many out there, most of the Geek Exchange staff included, that are all in a tizzy over the upcoming Arkham Knight but I daresay, by the end of this article you’ll be saying “Arkham What?”
Now, what on Earth could possibly lead me to make such a bold prediction? Easy, this guy.
That sound you just heard was my head literally (or figuratively if you don’t want to play along) exploding. Seriously, this might be the highlight of my year for it combines two of my favorite things of all time. Booster Gold with his faithful companion Skeets in a Lego video game. Be still my heart.
Booster Gold just by himself would be enough to pique my interest in a third Lego Batman game, which says how much I love Lego games because let’s be honest, the first two Lego Batman games have not been the best. Okay perhaps the second one wasn’t bad, but when compared to games like the Lego Harry Potter and Lego Lord of the Rings it pales in comparison. The first however? It was not good.
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham however is going to win me over. I just know it. Why? Well in addition to the amazing Booster Gold (have I mentioned recently how big a fan of Booster Gold I am?), the game has not only a playable Adam West character, but also a playable 60′s Batman storyline complete with the sound effects and visual sound effects made popular by the legendary TV show.
I mean seriously, how cool is that! If the sound effects and Batman carrying a bomb didn’t do it for you, then surely you at least were impressed by the fact that you can see Caesar Romero’s Joker’s painted over mustache. How’s that for being true to a source?
In addition to the awesome news of a playable 60′s TV show Batman, there were a whole host of playable characters announced. Everyone from Bat-Cow and Bat-mite to Mr. Mxyzptlk and Billy Batson.
And it’s not just playable characters! Oh no, in Lego Batman 3 the vehicles have also come out to play. In addition to the old school Batmobile you can see in the Mr. Mxyzptlk photo above, there are a entire host of vehicles, more specifically, vehicles used in space.
Joker in a flying missile! Tell me now that Lego Batman 3 won’t be the best video game ever. One thing we don’t know for sure is when we will actually get a chance to play the game. At the end of the newest Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham trailer (seen below) is the ambiguous announcement of an “Fall 2014″ arrival date. That could be technically anywhere from September to December.
