Star Trek Into Darkness isn't upon us just yet (only weeks to go!), but Star Trek: the Video Game launches April 23rd on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC, to hold us over until then.
We’ve talked about this game before, including the finer points of its co-op game play between Kirk and Spock and the fact that the primary bad guys (that we’ve seen so far) are a suped-up version of the Gorn from the Original Series, complete with warrior classes and even females.
But the coolest part of the game, based on the 2009 JJ Abrams incarnation of the original characters, is the fact that the entire cast provides a wealth of voiceover work throughout the game. With Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto to Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana and everyone else on the crew, it’s like getting an extra movie between the movies that you can play in your home. No, this is not Star Trek Into Darkness, the video game. This is a completely separate adventure set between the two films.
Check out the latest Making Of video from the developers, featuring its stellar cast and executive producer Brian Miller discussing the Enterprise, the action, and the original music by Michael Giacchino:
Brian then introduces the plot of the game in part 4, introducing a few new characters along the way, including a beautiful new Vulcan scientist that shares some history with Spock.
And in case you missed it a few weeks back, here’s a hilarious game promo video featuring a reunion between the old school Gorn and the original Captain Kirk, William Shatner:
