Mario Kart 8 is coming to the Wii U, which is great news for all of us looking to enact some sweet revenge. You never truly forget having your cup-winning dreams shattered by one well-timed green shell...

In spite of the haunting memories, the Mario Kart series always delivers a light-hearted racing experience that focuses on fun rather than realistic physics. In Nintendo’s latest entry into the series, you can look forward to a new feature with the introduction of anti-gravity and an all-new vehicle class: the ATV. Mario Kart 8 will also see the return of gliders, underwater tracks, and, of course, Rainbow Road.

Players will have the ability to customize their vehicle with an assortment of body types (including karts, bikes, and the new ATVs), tires, and gliders. You can test out your machine-building skills in the Mushroom Cup or while protecting your precious balloons in the popular Balloon Battle.

Mario Kart 8 releases on May 30 in stores and Nintendo’s eShop. Nintendo is also offering a Wii U deluxe set which along with the console includes the game, a Mario Wii Remote Plus, and a Wii Wheel. If your excitement to hop back into a kart isn’t enough, Nintendo has even sweetened the deal with a free game download with each Mario Kart 8 purchase between May 30, 2014 and July 31, 2014. Pick up Mario Kart 8 and you will also receive your choice of New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, or Wii Party U.
