In a step to bring the cohesiveness of Marvel Studio films to their own productions, 20th Century Fox has hired comic scribe Mark Miller to oversee their films featuring Marvel characters, specifically The Fantastic Four and X-Men.
Millar has a fairly lengthy history with Marvel Comics. His notable contributions include X-Men: Old Man Logan (a personal favorite), Civil War, Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest and The Ultimates I & II. He has written each of the Marvel characters that Fox owns the film rights to in comic form, so he will likely do well in his role as Keeper of the Cinematic Universe TM.
“I spent ten years working at Marvel and am really happy with the work I did on the comic side of things so the idea of working with these characters now in a brand new medium is enormously exciting for me,” Millar stated in a press release announcing the deal.” I really like the Fox team, love this bold new direction they have for their franchises and am proud to be working alongside some of modern cinema’s biggest talents.”
So, expect Millar to be heavily involved with X-Men: Days of Future of Past and Fantastic Four reboot. It’s unlikely he will work much on The Wolverine as it’s already deep into production.
