With the world of Marvel movies rapidly expanding, it is easy to miss the near-gluttonous amount of news that comes out on a regular basis. Thankfully, we are here to solve that problem.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s cast is starting to shape up quite nicely. Of course the big news was that of James Spader as Ultron, but two more recent announcements are not ones to be taken lightly. Samuel L. Jackson let the cat out of the bag on the casting of Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch.
I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.
This was followed up by a contract announcement but the question remained, who would play Quicksilver to Olsen’s Scarlet Witch? That to has been announced at it is Kick-Ass himself, Aaron Johnson. In addition to playing the sibling pair, Olsen and Johnson team up for the Godzilla remake scheduled for next year.
Him and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other. His sister really is his guidance – emotionally she’s the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He’s very overprotective physically – he doesn’t want anyone touching her. He has real anger frustration – I like that. I always thought it’d be quite funny if you saw him eating loads and people asked him why and he’d explain it’s because he’s burning so much energy all the time. Or ideas that you’d see him come back round – but he’s already nipped out and got his lunch somewhere else. He just got bored – his attention span is so fucking quick. – Aaron Johnson, Total Film
Avengers: Age of Ultron won’t be hitting theaters until 2015, but that doesn’t mean the wait for more Avenger related films is that long. As a matter of fact, we are coming up on the release of Thor: The Dark World in a matter of weeks. With that comes new TV spots, including this newest one in which Kat Dennings becomes the voice of the fans…
Plus, new posters! Always a happy day when new posters are involved.
With the the success of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC, it really was only a matter of time before rumblings of another series came to the surface. Thanks to the hugely popular one-shot, Agent Carter, most of those rumblings have been centered on Hayley Atwell and her Agent Peggy Carter character.
However, don’t get too pumped just yet as Jeph Loeb threw a little bit of cold water on the idea when talking to IGN at this past weekend’s New York Comic-Con.
We just want to make sure that SHIELD is up, it’s running, it’s the show that people expect and it’s on good, solid ground with great acting, spectacular visual effects, really having that sort of epic adventure feel with human spirit tied into it and just the right dose of humour. If we get that right, obviously a lot more becomes open to us, but by the same token we’re not in any kind of rush.
Skill in non-committal diversion? Jeph Loeb has it.
So…. that about does it for this round of Marvel movie updates! All that’s left is to sit back and enjoy this video found while scrolling through tumblr. As one person put it, “you can totally see this in the Thor soundtrack” and I couldn’t agree more. Speaking of, are you following the GEEK tumblr? What are you waiting for?
