It looks like District 13 is prepping for revolution with all new Mockingjay part 1 posters.
The impressive viral campaign spearheaded by Lionsgate continues with an all new set of character posters highlighting the some of the new faces of Mockingjay part 1. Here we see Cressida (Natalie Dormer, or Margaery Tyrell for my fellow GoT fans) the revolutionary documentary reporter, Gale, Messalla (Evan Ross) a longtime friend of Katniss, Cressida’s assistant; Boggs (Mahershala Ali) a semi-bodyguard to Katniss and Castor and Pollux (Wes Chatham and Elden Henson) who are brothers and Cressida’s camera men.
The new posters represent a tonal change in Lionsgate’s campaign. Originally we tuned into a menacing, more delegated video compliments of President Snow and The Capitol, but as the campaign picked up traction, viewers were subjected to a disturbance in the “anti-mockingjay” Capitol propaganda via Beetee’s satellite hi-jacking. The first half of this campaign was definitely a statement from The Capitol, but the newer campaigns suggest that District 13 is doing anything but idly standing by. Though one has to wonder what’s going on behind the scenes in the Capitol, specifically with the captured with Johanna and Peeta.
Symbolism plays a great deal in The Hunger Games lore, and perhaps one of the most intelligent things Lionsgate is pursuing, is capitalizing on the spirit of rebellion through viral and guerrilla marketing. In several cities Capitol billboards are seen vandalized with Mockingjay graffiti. Lines are clearly being drawn here, and it doesn’t seem like Lionsgate will be slowing down any time soon.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1 hits theaters Nov. 21.
