The Shield star Michael Chiklis will join the FX series American Horror Story for its fourth season, subtitled Freak Show.
At Paleyfest this year, the cast and creators of American Horror Story gathered to celebrate their third season, subtitled Coven, and announced a major casting announcement for their fourth season, subtitled Freak Show. Vic Mackey himself will be coming back to the FX network as Michael Chiklis (The Shield) was announced as a main cast member for the new season.
Chiklis made a surprise appearance Friday night at Paleyfest as he took a seat on the panel when creator Ryan Murphy made the announcement. Murphy had been trying to get the actor into the superb series for some time now. He will be playing the father to Evan Peters’ character in the season, and the ex-husband to Kathy Bates’ character. Peters and Bates will be returning to the fourth season, as well as Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy and, of course, Jessica Lange.
The story will center around the Lange as she takes in carnival workers and will be set in Jupiter, Florida in 1950. She will also be a German expatriate that brings all the performers together for one of the last freak shows remaining in the country. The filming will still stay in New Orleans for the second season in a row and the producers are working on returning Dennis O’Hare, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe and Jamie Brewer in some capacity for the new season. Other than that, details are light on the new season as nothing much was announced at the Q&A panel that consisted mostly of the season three cast.
