EA's popular racing game is getting the movie treatment with Need for Speed starring Aaron Paul.
With Breaking Bad wrapping up this Sunday, there has been inevitable talk of what the stars will do next. Bryan Cranston was rumored to be playing Lex Luthor, and for sure will be reviving his guest spot as Hammond Druthers, Ted’s boss, in How I Met Your Mother‘s final season. Other than that, Cranston’s future is a bit vague.
His costar Aaron Paul however, well he’s not wasting any time in moving on. His new movie, Need for Speed was filmed this past summer and is scheduled to hit theaters this coming March. The first Need for Speed trailer has been released and it’s perhaps a bit more dramatic than fans of the racing game were expecting.
The film certainly looks like it keeps some of the tell tale elements of the EA game, what with cars drifting around corners, flying through the air, and even going up in balls of flame. Of course when some people like myself play the game, there is a lot of running into walls and driving in the grass which isn’t shown in this Need for Speed trailer, but perhaps they’ll include it in the next one.
Fresh from prison, a street racer who was framed by a wealthy business associate joins a cross country race with revenge in mind. His ex-partner, learning of the plan, places a massive bounty on his head as the race begins.
As the logline suggests, the film takes place all over the country, and was filmed all over the country as well. Hitting up places like Utah, Georgia, and even the car capitol itself, Detroit.
Starring alongside Aaron Paul is Imogene Poots, Dominic Cooper, Dakota Johnson, and Michael Keaton. Need for Speed is currently slated for a March 14th, 2014 release.
