The first trailer for Archer: Dreamland just dropped and it’s our most detailed look at the eighth season so far.
The radically re-designed new episodes for Archer: Dreamland are set in 1947, and re-imagine the characters in slightly different roles. While we have been treated to series of promos over the past few months, this is the first official trailer for season 8. This footage gives a better sense of how the supporting cast such as Pam, Cheryl, Cyril, Lana and Krieger are all altered for the Noir setting, and we get a look at a characteristically non-cyborg Barry.
Producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson have said Sterling will be meeting all of these alter-ego versions for the first time during the course of the season.

Read the new synopsis for the season which shapes the show’s narrative as if it were a brand new series for FXX, one set in Los Angeles of the 1940’s:
Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around the hardboiled private eye Sterling Archer and his quest to find his partner’s killer in 1947 Los Angeles. The case proves to be more difficult than expected after Archer quickly gets mixed up in a deadly game of tug of war between Los Angeles’ most powerful crime bosses. Every clue leads Archer further away from his goal and deeper into a mystery involving kidnapping, prostitution and drug addiction.
After the season 7 cliffhanger where **SPOILER** Archer was found riddled with bullets, face down in a pool, it looks like FX is taking its time answering just what happened to Sterling and the rest of the crew in the present day. New season, new setting: this allows Archer the opportunity to try on a whole new look, and the show seems to take to it very nicely. The series has often been anachronistic, so this new time jump isn’t completely out of left field and given the subtitle of “Dreamland” you can only assume this will end up being some coma or drunk/drug-induced delusion living out in Archer’s mind. Season 5 was subtitled Archer Vice and carried a heavy Miami Vice vibe and last season pulled from Magnum, P.I. and Sunset Boulevard.
Look for Archer: Dreamland to premiere on FXX (not FX anymore) on April 5th. Archer has also been renewed through Season 10.
