Avengers Infinity War

With fans patiently waiting for this trailer to drop since San Diego Comic-Con back in July, Marvel has finally seen fit to release the first official trailer for one of the most (perhaps The most) anticipated films of 2018. Kevin Feige and company have not disappointed as the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer is here and it is glorious.

But enough talk! Check out the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War below:

So much to dissect! Thor crossing paths with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Parker’s arm hair standing on edge (assuming that’s his Spider-Sense). Peter also has a new Spider-Man suit that looks a lot like the one shown at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming (which in turn, looks a little like the suit from the Spider-Man 2099 comics). We also see a bearded Captain America (get this man a shield). The guy’s been through a lot and it’s obviously starting to take a toll on him. Thanos wears the Infinity Gauntlet and even though we didn’t get any footage of him pulling down a moon like the teaser shown at SDCC we do get a whole lot of snippets of armies battling. It gets very action-heavy towards the end as it cycles through the incredibly large cast of characters. Avengers: Infinity War certainly seems to be touting the end of an era.

‘Fun really isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe,’ Thanos says. ‘This does put a smile on my face.’ Marvel isn’t messing around and it will be fascinating to see where they go after Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters. A few reasons that Marvel waited so long between their first trailer debuting at SDCC and this one is that is spoils some revelations like the now one-eyed Thor that would have to have come after the events of Thor: Ragnarok. With only Black Panther between now and Infinity War, it seems like an ample opportunity for Marvel to release their cumulative mega-event film’s first trailer. Not to mention that this will probably also play before Star Wars: The Last Jedi in a few weeks.

With the first trailer also came the first teaser poster. We got a triptych of exclusive teaser posters back in July from comic-con but this is the first official poster that will start donning theater marquees very soon. Note the purple hue and cosmic motif of the poster, signaling the coming of Thanos and the first Avengers film to incorporate such cosmic entities as the Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Stephen Strange.

Check it out below:

Infinity War

Both Anthony and Joe Russo are returning to the directors’ chair – coming hot off of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War – and are directing both Infinity War and the untitled fourth film back-to-back. The film(s) are being written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Avengers: Infinity War will open almost 10 years to the day that the Marvel Cinematic Universe first launched with Iron Man. The film is being touted as a capstone of a decade’s worth of storytelling stretched across multiple films, shorts, and TV series. The film, which is being shot with IMAX cameras for total immersion, stars an unprecedented cast, which included almost every protagonist in the MCU.

Avengers: Infinity War is set for release on May 4, 2018.
