Avengers: Infinity War Toys May Confirm New Iron Spider Abilities

While there was a lot to appreciate in the long-awaited first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, one of the biggest rewards was finally being able to see Spider-Man’s new Avengers costume – first glimpsed in Spider-Man: Homecoming – which fans have dubbed as the Iron Spider costume.

The Iron Spider costume does have a comic counterpart with a similar history, as both costumes are high-tech improvements made by Tony Stark. However, visually they are very different, with Spidey’s Infinity War costume retaining the colors of his normal MCU outfit, while the comic version adopted a color scheme more similar to Iron Man’s armor. This has left fans wondering how similar the MCU Iron Spider costume will be to the comic version, as the suit had a number of additional improvements to the costume.

The most obvious was the inclusion of three mechanical spider-arms, which were known as “waldoes.” They would deploy from a small pack on the back of the Iron Spider costume, which the MCU version does not seem to have, putting some doubt as to whether we would see the waldoes appear. However, in a recent release from Hasbro’s Avengers: Infinity War toyline, the Spider-Man figure does seem to confirm both the Iron Spider moniker, and the inclusion of the waldoes:

It’s important to note that this particular toyline all feature additional weapons for the heroes powered by included Infinity Stones. We’re still inclined to believe that the design will replicate what we see in the film, otherwise, they could have easily made a web-shooter weapon like most other Spidey figures.

Do you think we’ll see Spidey get his extra arms in Infinity War or is this just the usual unrelated film merchandise that likes to add pointless armor and choking hazards? Let us know in the comments section below and join the discussion on the GEEK FB!

Looks like the "Iron Spider" costume might be more comic accurate than we thought...
