Truth or Dare is the latest horror effort from the immensely profitable Blumhouse Productions and is now getting a spring 2018 release date. It will be the fourth title in Blumhouse’s already very busy 2018 slate.

Lucy Hale and Tyler Posey lead the cast of Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare, a supernatural thriller from Blumhouse Productions where a harmless game of “Truth or Dare” among friends turns deadly when someone—or something—begins to punish those who tell a lie, or refuse the dare. Truth Or Dare stars two, young stars that are both coming off of two very popular shows. Hale is best known for her role in Pretty Little Liars, while Posey starred in Teen Wolf. Blumhouse is probably looking to capitalize on their now-free schedule while harnessing their notability among young audiences.

Truth or Dare

The movie is being directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2, Cry_Wolf), and co-stars Violett Beane (The Flash), Nolan Gerard Funk (Dear White People), Hayden Szeto (The Edge of Seventeen) and Sophia Taylor Ali (Grey’s Anatomy). Universal has had several box office successes in 2017 with Blumhouse horror titles like Split, which took in $280 million worldwide and Get Out, which pulled in $250 million, and Happy Death Day, released on October 13 and nearing $80 million worldwide. Together, the three movies have hauled in over $600 million worldwide, all on budgets of less than $15 million.

Blumhouse and Universal have a busy schedule slated for 2018, which includes the release of Insidious: The Last Key on January 5, 2018, with the fourth Purge film set to arrive July 4, 2018, and a new Halloween film arriving October 19, 2018.

Halloween

Truth Or Dare is set to open on April 27, 2018, where it will go up against Lionsgate’s Traffik, Orion’s Every Day and A24’s untitled horror film.
