It’s safe to say a lot of us were pretty disappointed that Fox didn’t reveal anything from the upcoming Deadpool sequel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, but we understood as the film is currently filming and probably couldn’t afford to lose the principal actors for the events and panels we all know and love. We resigned ourselves to wait until director David Leitch and crew had something worthwhile to show off Deadpool 2, and thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long.

In this first look at the character, Zazie Beetz has been revealed as Domino, mercenary, and companion to Cable, who will be played by Josh Brolin. The image parodies our first look at Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool that was released for the original film, which featured Reynolds in costume on a bear skin rug, itself parodying the infamous Burt Reynolds picture. This look at Domino replaces the bear skin rug for what we are hoping is only a Deadpool suit and not the broken body of the character himself.
This first look is actually pretty amazing, with a great costume and look for Domino, complete with an odd colored eye patch that helps define the visual look of the character. Yes, in the comics Neena Turman AKA Domino is very pale white with a black eye circle, so the pale white eye circle is a nice nod to the change in character for this cinematic version. We can’t wait to see Zazie Beetz as our favorite mutant mercenary, whose undefined powers involve probability altering, meaning things tend to go her way, like dominoes falling together. Beetz impressed us on FX’s Atlanta, which has helped land her roles in Easy on Netflix, as well as Chance the Rapper’s upcoming Slice. Another image of her Domino was released by Beetz herself:
Beetz joins Reynolds as Deadpool, Brolin as Cable, Jack Kesy in an unconfirmed role and returning characters like T.J. Miller’s Weasel and Leslie Uggams’ Blind Al. Our fingers are crossed that the next reveal will finally be our first look at Cable, and if this taste of Domino is any indication, we should be very excited.
Deadpool 2 hits theaters on June 1, 2018.
