It’s a really good time to be a comic book fan. Like most of us who have been reading comics our whole lives, we’ve all spent years waiting and dreaming about the day we might be able to see our favorite comic book heroes up on the big screen. From the early Batman serials of the 40s to the dawn of the classic movie era with Superman and Batman in the 70s and 80s to the modern summer blockbusters that are the MCU and DCEU franchises, the opportunity to enjoy our favorite heroes across all mediums has never been greater.

Over the next few years, we are going to see the release of a huge selection of movies, which we are sure to cover at great length individually. But for a larger idea of what’s coming out and when they fit into our calendar, GEEK has put together this masterpost that will include all of the officially announced comic book movies from the Big Two and other comic properties that get the green light for the big screen, with a synopsis for each film, if available.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Marvel Studios/Sony – July 5, 2019

The sequel to Homecoming was revealed to take place directly after Avengers 4, so they are keeping details quiet on this one. Kevin Feige has teased a summer trip to Europe for Spider-Man, though after the events of Infinity War we will need a lot more to go on before we can speculate more on this film.

Joker

DC Films – October 4, 2019

We don’t know much about the recetnly titled Joker film, but it is rumored to follow the origin moments presented in Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ The Killing Joke. The film will star Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker and will be directed by The Hangover‘s Todd Phillips. The most interesting thing about this upcoming film is the fact that it will be produced by Hollywood legend Martin Scorcese.

We can expect this date to be filled by Suicide Squad 2, which is the closest in production to make this release. Other possible DCEU films that the remaining dates could be held for are the solo Flash film, Matt Reeves upcoming The Batman trilogy, a sequel to Justice League, the long-in-development Justice League DarkBatgirlGotham City SirensNightwing, or one of the many Joker-related spin-offs in the works.

Bloodshot

Valiant Entertainment/Sony – February 21, 2020

While we don’t have an official synopsis yet for the adaptation that will star Vin Diesel in the title role, we do have a comic character description:

Bloodshot is a former soldier with powers of regeneration and meta-morphing made possible through nanites injected into his blood. After having his memory wiped numerous times, Bloodshot is out to discover who he really is and get vengeance on those who did this to him. Bloodshot’s bloodstream contains a billion nano-computers, enabling him to heal from injuries quickly, interface with technology, and shapeshift his mass.
