At this point, one could say that the future of the DCEU is uncertain and in a constant state of flux. Due to the mixed reactions from its three releases thus far, it seems that the top brass at Warner Bros. and DC fans everywhere are holding their breath to see how the general population receives the upcoming Wonder Woman standalone movie, and the hugely anticipated Justice League movie to close out their year. If everything pans out, it’s possible the current DCEU movie slate will remain intact, and that includes David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens, which will chronicle the continuing story of Margot Robie’s Harley Quinn, alongside the as of yet uncast Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

Although there has been plenty of fan speculation and suggestions of who should take on the roles of the remaining two sirens, one actress has come forward to express interest in Dr. Pamela Isley AKA Poison Ivy. Jessica Chastain (aka Painkiller Jane) recently stated in an interview with Cinema Blend:

“I’m interested in all things where the characters are strong and dynamic, and not stereotypes or objects. I like female characters that are subjects, not objects. And so, if Poison Ivy happens to be that, sure. Throw my hat in the ring.”

From reading plenty of years of Batman comics, Poison Ivy comes off as anything but a stereotype or object. She sure as hell takes advantage of a man’s weaknesses and they may see her as an object, but she holds all of the power and all of the control. Ivy has controlled and manipulated even the most powerful of the DC characters, from Killer Croc all the way up to the Man of Steel himself.

Since Zero Dark Thirty, Chastain has proven to everyone she can play a variety of characters, most notably strong and calculating ones, like 2016’s Miss Sloane.

Let’s just say that the red hair isn’t her only attribute that would make her perfect to play the role of Poison Ivy.
