What would the comic book movie world be like without a cameo appearance or post/mid credits scene? It’s to the point where none of us should be surprised, but here is the latest one rumored to be popping up in Justice League next year. According to The Wrap, a member of the Green Lantern Corps will be featured in a “key sequence” in the upcoming superhero team-up. Granted, folks still have a bad taste in their mouths from the first movie iteration of the Green Lantern, with Ryan Reynolds failing as his portrayal of the ring slinging earth man and Parallax being – basically a cloud of poop. Perhaps that is the reason that plans for a new Green Lantern movie have been scheduled for a 2020 release, so now seems like a good time to reintroduce him to the audiences.
Of course, we’re still unsure which member of the Corps we will see in the cinematic version of the League. Hal Jordan makes sense because let’s face it, the guy is a mainstay and founding member of the Justice League, something not even Superman or Batman can claim. However, there has been plenty of back and forth on the interwebs about John Stewart possibly getting the nod to be the League’s lead Lantern (so much alliteration). Then again, it may not be any of the Earth lanterns since the Green Lantern Corps is comprised of over 7,000 individual lantern members who defend 3600 different sectors in the known universe, so we might be seeing one of the alien members in the form of someone like Kilowog, Tomar Re or even Abin Sur if they are planning another look at Hal Jordan’s origin story.
Since there has not been a casting decision maybe it will just be a random GL helping the Justice League out with something briefly to remind the audience of the presence of the Corps, or to serve as a warning of a future threat to the team, maybe even Darkseid?
We definitely have plenty of time to find out. So who does everyone want to see? Jordan? Stewart? Gardner? Rayner? Or even the newest members of the GLC – Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz? Speculate below!
